History
In 1850, Austrian Steam Naval Society on Danube, was founded the Drobeta Turnu Severin Shipyard.
In 1977 on the east side of the Shipyard has been found The Forging Parts Plant, which manufacture large forging parts from steel for the entire naval sector and for other factories from all over the country.
Its made up from three sections:
- Forging Section-Hammers-Cutting,
- Machining Section,
- Secondary Heat Treatment Section.
On 01.03.1980 was found ICPNC Drobeta Turnu Severin (Naval Constructions and Hot Plastic Deformation Plant); this designation last until 1990 when SC FORSEV SA come into being.
The Forging – Hammers Section was being into function in 1986, the main equipment was being into function in 1987. These are: die hammers of 2,5 tons; 10 tons; 25 tons; 40 tons; free forging hammers of 2 tons; 3 tons; 5 tons.Production power of this section is of 18000 tons / year.
In 1988 was being into function the Secondary Heat Treatment Section and Machining Section with chip removing process' equipment.
During 1980 – 1990 ICNPC Drobeta Turnu Severin functions with two plants: naval constructions ' plant and forgings ' plant.
On 15.12.1990 ICNPC Drobeta Turnu Severin splits into two different companies according to Government Decree no. 1213/20.XI.1990.

On 15.06.1998, a former Romanian State company, S.C. FORSEV S.A. a has been privatised and become an American – Romanian joint-venture.
Since its privatisation, SC FORSEV S.A. changed into a well-organized client-oriented company determined to expand its domestic and international markets.
